The Relative Merits of Using a Fashion Studio vs. Independent Fashion Designers

As an upcoming fashion label, you would want designs that are cutting-edge, attractive and can make a mark against established brands. Price is a factor and hence you need to ensure that your costs in designing and producing your collection are kept within your budget. One of the ways to do that effectively has been to outsource the designing work to freelance designers. With platforms like Elance and Freelancer, it is possible to find hundreds of freelance designers who will work with you to create your fashion collection at a fraction of the cost that an in-house full-fledged design team would require. And you will be able to interact with them directly, so getting your ideas across is simplified. You will also get more personalized attention from a freelancer.

While you are likely to find a number of good designers on these platforms, identifying them can be a difficult task, involving contacting dozens of them and filtering the ones that you can get along with. At the same time, you have very little guarantee that the freelancer will deliver the work as per your timelines and specifications, since (s)he is usually a lone worker with no backup. Fledgling fashion labels on tight timelines can be stuck at the mercy of such freelancers.

So what is the solution? What you would ideally be looking for is a combination of the best parts of both sides. You would like the reassurance of a talented designer team that can be selected and deliver as per your design brief in a short time. At the same time, you would like to keep your costs low and have the assurance of an experienced professional handling the project. With virtual design platforms like fuel4Fashion, you can get both.

Fuel4Fashion is a virtual design studio that brings together talented design professionals from across the world, giving you a diverse talent pool from which you can choose who would work on your project. You get a chance to view their previous work, and have the assurance that a team of experienced professionals is managing the design process at an affordable cost. The additional advantage is that you get a variety of designs that you might not find in your local talent pool – African prints, bright Latin American colour combinations, and the style and cut of sophisticated European design houses become possible with this platform. You are assured of timely project completion, access to new ideas and efficient communication that ensures the outcome is as good as, if not better than what you visualized.

While working with both freelancers and agencies have their respective advantages and shortcomings, using a virtual design studio like Fuel4Fashion gives you the best of both. This will ensure that your fashion label will make a strong impact and yet you keep your creative costs within control.

Corporate uniforms are meant to create a lasting impression outside as well as inside. To brand your business with a corporate label it’s important to create an image which works for both the employees and the public. A corporate uniform instills a sense of loyalty among employees and also boosts the public perception of the quality and reliability of the brand. With that kind of influential power corporate uniforms covey the message you want and that too quietly. There has been a paradigm shift in the corporate wears of the earlier times as compared to now.  Now even the corporate wear focuses on style, since people wear them to office daily.

The uniforms not only make the employee feel good but also make him feel proud of the organization that he is working with. This year’s New York Fashion Week brought with it waves of inspiration for corporate to develop their brand apparel. There are a number of new trends that have found their place in the brand apparel program for the corporate organizations.

First is the Custom Caps: Caps were always a unique feature and it’s not a surprise that caps are now getting hotter day and day. Nowadays there are more than one ways to customize these caps for service industries.

After caps, the next big thing is the performance clothing.  Performance wear is a functional, multi-purpose wear which has useful properties like anti-bacterial or UV protector. Some sports adventure companies are now trying to make performance clothing, a part of their uniform.

Then the next hit item on the list is Jackets which are popular mainly due to their versatility.  From winters to summers these jackets are the coolest gig on the planet.

Nowadays the corporate dresses are also influenced by the recent fashion trends. Check out these new corporate uniforms for women.

Paul Fredrick’s Summer Collection Review

13 Friday Jun 2014

Paul Fredrick just launched their Summer 2014 collection of formal dress shirts, patterned ties and suits for men. Incorporating bold prints in their ties to complement the range of bright colors available in their range of shirts, the collection makes a bold statement with its block colors and stripes. Shirts are largely French cuff and straight collar, with a mix of tapered collars and button down collars adding to the mix. The green dot pattern and solid melon color shirts are a nice variation on the otherwise staid color palette.

Image 1

This being the Summer collection, the focus on cotton is unmistakable, providing a comfortable look and feel. The seersucker cotton suits will keep you comfortable even out in the sun, and set off with the bold designs and prints of their signature ties, make an impressive statement. We love the paisley and botanical prints in bright eye-catching colors, with a liberal dose of pastel shades for the not-so-bold of heart. The striped tie collection showcases some interesting colors as well, with a variety of mixes. The orange botanical print in stripes is an interesting piece, as is the white woven silk tie with triple stripes. The green swirl tie and the navy sailboat tie are also pieces that catch the eye. While the two-color pink and blue bow tie may be an attempt to strike out in a bold direction, it may not quite suit the average fashion-conscious male.

Image 2All in all, the Paul Fredrick collection has a few outstanding pieces that make an impact, and the entire collection complements itself, with a good mix of standard designs and interesting experiments in bringing bolder colors to the fore in this season.

You can check out their range at the online store here

Weddings, in every part of the world are a challenging affair. From making the guest list to deciding the car, the preparations are endless. Bride-to-be will always be expounding over details, most important of all over the issues of her wedding dress. None can demur on her actions, after all a bride does get a little panicky on her wedding. The most important thing although, for a bride, on her wedding day is her wedding dress. Western wedding dresses have seen a lot of changes where trends jumped across eras and made appearances on the aisle.

Earlier the wedding dresses were huge on embroidery and laces like Queen Victoria’s sleeve dropping dress which was very heavy. Also sleeves were a noticeable aspect of any wedding dress of those times.

This dress is considered as one of the most iconic wedding dress of all times and was made by Ann Lowe for Jacqueline when she was getting married to the then senator, John F Kennedy.

Veil was considered as a very important part of the earlier wedding dress; Jacqueline Kennedy’s dress had a very big and embroidered veil. This dress is acclaimed to be one of the sexiest and prettiest of all time.

Next is our favorite Princess Diana. Her wedding dress and veil makes swoon. Her wedding was like a fairy tale and she herself looked no less than a princess.

With the change of time, women started wearing gowns that stick to their figure and gave them shape and big sleeves and curves were discarded. But the long veil still sticks around.

Also today white gowns are sidelined and people also started to go for colored wedding dresses.

Everyone agrees that work-out is necessary and that makes gym wear and yoga wear another important and well stacked division of our closet. But do we really have many choices in terms of gym wear? Gym is now the big destination to flaunt your sexy wardrobe. So for that we need more options. Options that should not make us look any less stylish. People of earlier times always knew that exercise needs separate garments. That’s why if you look at any pure form of martial art, you will notice that they have separate dresses for it.

Martial Arts in its purest forms

Although sweat pants and tee-shirts might be cozy and they do make us feel extra comfortable, but they are one of the most non-glam clothes to be worn in the gym. Also it has been scientifically proven that people who are wearing sweat pants and shirts loose lesser calories as compared to people who are wearing proper gym clothes provided the conditions remain the same in both the situation.  Nowadays gym wear has got a new definition where one doesn’t just feel the fabric and buy it. Now it’s more about what the fabric can give more than just the comfort.   That’s when performance clothing kicks in. It’s the zone of innovation as designers are everyday trying to discover more and more about this untapped segment.

Sport wears of the older time

In around 1800 women were emphasized to wear corsets and gowns even for athletic activities like horse riding etc. Since they emphasized on modesty so they were long sleeves and buttoned-up. In the 20th century track pants kicked in and it gave birth to the new and improved segment – gym wear.

1980s stands witness of the time when the boundary between gym wear and fashion was getting erased. Bright colored became the new hit and people started opting for colors and tackiness.
